CV Alonso Martínez

Alonso Martínez

Research Lead

Alonso is an Electrical Civil Engineer and holds a Master of Science in Engineering from the University of Chile. He specializes in developing mathematical models that bring sector risk into strategic and planning decisions in the electricity market.

As Research Lead at SPEC, he designed the supply auction award model applied in the National Energy Commission's (CNE) regulated customer processes 2023/01, 2025/01 and 2025/02, and in large-scale unregulated customer auctions. He has also led the development of models for siting and sizing battery energy storage systems (BESS) based on their market risks, the methodology for an agent-based generation expansion model, and an investment model for spare transformers in transmission and distribution networks grounded in reliability analysis.

His experience includes price forecasting studies and regulatory analysis of the sector, and he advises clients on commercial decisions based on quantitative analysis of the electricity market.

Previously, as a researcher at the Institute for Complex Engineering Systems (ISCI), he developed a model co-optimizing power system operation and the diesel distribution chain, aimed at preventing supply disruptions under energy scarcity conditions.
